I love this song because it starts off innocent and easy then turns into a barn burner then resolves with a whisper.


Barn burners wear me out. As a tenor (I'm more of a tenor 2 but sing a lot of tenor 1) I use my falsetto a lot. There's this one "Bethlehem" that goes up the scale for us and I was like "dayum!" Lol.

Of all the songs on this site, I think this particular rehearsal is reminiscent of what happens when you have a barn burner song that you get and on the first day, you're already tired of singing it. Even listening back to this rehearsal, I'm thinking "ugh, what a slog." It just so happened that this song was also in a concert with a couple other barn burner Christmas songs and I distinctly remember one performance night thinking I was gonna faint because it was so physically taxing to sing this many intense songs repeatedly in the concert series. Yeah, I'd be fine never singing this song ever again but I keep it on the list as an authentic remind…
